Jack of all trades master of none. Are you that skillful guy or lady? You think you can do whole lots of stuffs, huh? Then you can be rightly called a Jack of all trades. The word “Jack of all trade” has been overtime used sarcastically but at the long-run when delved into means a lot.
However, if someone called you a Jack of all trades then you can’t possibly know whether it is a good compliment or otherwise. That’s funny though.
There are lots of people out there who are pretty good in one or two things but the argument here is that ” Are Jack of all trades master of none or Master of many? “
Can you be a business tycoon, be a good singer, great dancer, writer, actor, etc All in one. Pretty clear, there is no possibility of being good in all.
I am not here to take sides whether Jack of all trades are masters of none or masters of many.
In this article, I would be generic as much as I can and analyze from different views and perspectives.
At the end, you should definitely know where you stand.
After making series of research on the topic, I realized there are few article previously written on this particular topic and this gave me the excitement to pen my opinion down on it.
Now, let’s look at what a Jack of all trades means.
A Jack of all trade means pretty good in doing many things. Being an adept it expert in varieties of things. It is a figure of speech meant to perhaps flatter but recently, a different meaning have been termed to it when the “Master of none” was added and it confused people whether to get flattered when complimented as Jack of all trades or probably get crazy.
The juxtaposition between “Master of none” and ” Master of many” has caused heated arguments and ruckus. Either way, we are going to check out both.
Jack of all trades master of none – My personal argument on this particular phrase is that you can’t be an expert in everything. You can not be everywhere; You can not master everything. Infact! Doing lots of things tend to set you backward because the strength you are supposed to placed on just one thing successful, you basically divert it to varieties of stuffs.
Being a Jack of all trades is like being a Lawyer and Medical Doctor at the same time. There is no possibility of any sense of expertise in doing many stuffs.
Imagine putting the energy scattered in varieties of skills in one skill then you will do just perfectly great.
A lot of people argued that it is good to be skillful in many things. Yes! I agree but professionally, it is not advisable because you may end up not achieving anything tangible in all.
Pick up a skill and be successful in it – That’s the way to Go.
However, I won’t be clearly justified if I refuse to talk about the good side of being a Jack of all trades as fondly called by some people ” Jack of all trades Master of Many”
One of the advantage of being skillful in many things is that it gives you an edge over others, it also make you vast though doesn’t really mean you are perfect in all but at least you are versatile.
Everything in life has advantage(s) and disadvantage(s) Personally, I have tried being Jack of all trades in the past and I would sincerely say it doesn’t work for me. I realized I was so confused and got too engaged in many things which I felt it’s exhausting.
This argument is a continuity but don’t forget to study yourself so you can tell what works for you.
