Hot sunny weather is really nice and there are plenty of fun things you can do under the sun – from swimming, strolling, having a picnic, and many more. However, too much heat is not good for the body and could cause heat stroke when the body is overheating. It has lots of damage to the body that’s why it is really important to keep yourself cool as you are enjoying the summer heat.

Here are some of the simple ways to beat the heat during those hot sunny days.

Stay Hydrated

When the weather is hot, your body loses more water in the form of sweat. The body produces more sweat to keep the body cool and maintain a balanced temperature. This could lead to dehydration if you don’t replenish all those lost fluids and is dangerous to the body.

If you’re sweating a lot, it is important to keep yourself hydrated by drinking lots of fluids. It doesn’t refer to water only but also to other fluids such as energy drinks, fruit juices, coconut water, and many more. Avoid diuretic drinks since it has a dehydrating effect and is not good when you’re already losing so much water.

Wear the Right Clothing

On hot sunny days, wearing cool and light clothing is more comfortable and appropriate to keep your body cool. Look for clothes that are made from breathable fabrics such as cotton and opt for lighter fabrics.

Open footwear such as sandals is also perfect for sunny days since it keeps your feet cool and not sweaty. Don’t forget to wear protective accessories such as a sun hat and shades to protect your head and eyes from the damaging UV rays from the sun.

Avoid Midday Sun

The sun’s UV rays are really damaging to the skin, especially with prolonged exposure. When you’re going out, it is best to avoid the midday sun – around 11am to 2pm – since it is the hottest part of the day. Stay indoors during those times if possible to avoid overheating and getting sunstroke. However, if you really need to go out the time, be sure to wear the right clothing to stay cool.

Consume Cold Food and Drinks

Another instant trick that would really cool you down on a hot sunny day is by consuming cold food and drinks. Eat cold foods and drinks such as ice cream, smoothies, fruit shake, ice pops, and other more. Aside from cooling you down, it also helps keep your body hydrated even when it’s already scorching hot.

Cool Down Those Pressure Points

There are some spots in our bodies that are hotter than the rest. It is usually the folds or bends on our body such as the neck, wrists, elbow bends, and other more. You can instantly cool down yourself by applying an ice pack to these zones.

With those simple cooling-down hacks, you can now enjoy the summer heat without suffering too much from the hot temperatures.
